Together As One
Together As One
St Patrick’s School, in valuing its Christian identity, strives for a better world in which:
- the fragile and vulnerable are welcomed in
- justice and peace are championed
- gifts and excellence are celebrated and pursued
- the unimportant may be important,
- hope in the future is encouraged…
Pastoral Care is intrinsic to the life of our school and is not viewed as an isolated entity. It is the responsibility of all members of our school community. Pastoral Care supports and provides a context for growth and expression of compassion, tolerance, forgiveness, reconciliation and healing in all aspects of the school’s life. It is an expression of and commitment to justice and service.
We aim to ensure the intrinsic presence of Pastoral Care in our school by:
- relating with each other in ways that endorse gospel values: justice, inclusion, reconciliation, respect
- creating an environment where children feel safe, accepted and valued
- creating classrooms where differences are accepted, valued and celebrated
- providing an inclusive educational environment
- assisting children to develop self-discipline and healthy social skills
- maintaining flexible structures and practices that are responsive to the needs of students
- catering for children with special needs through flexible classroom structures, integration support and access to specialists
- promoting safety and protection through a behaviour management policy, an anti bullying policy, appropriate supervision of children at all times and a Sunsmart policy
- recognizing and supporting families as key care-givers
- maintaining liaison with the Parish and wider community through the Parish Priest, the Parish Pastoral Team, Catholic Care and agencies such as the St Vincent de Paul Society, Windermere, Centacare and Parentline
